Birth - 2 years Rainbow Room

At Cheeky Monkeys Day Nursery our fully trained and qualified nursery staff look after babies from birth to toddlers. We provide a homely and caring environment rich in colour, sound, movement and touch for the children to explore and in which they can begin to develop their mobility.

We focus on the three developmental essentials of early care and education in babies:

Communication
Emotional security
Physical development

Babies enjoy sensory and tactile experiences such as playing with paints and water, exploring a variety of natural objects in a “treasure basket” or simply enjoying a book and a cuddle with one of the nursery nurses.

2 years- 3 Years Ladybird Room

For our 2 year to 3 year old we combine a balance of child-led play with adult-initiated learning, specifically designed to develop your child's creativity, caring for others and social skills, as they establish their own identity.

We incorporate a range of activities, role play and social development skills that are specifically designed to encourage independence, collaboration and a greater understanding of their surroundings and others around them.

Learning through play

We incorporate the Early Years Foundation EYFS, in our daily activities and adjust the activity to suit the development stage of each child.

At Cheeky Monkeys Day Nursery we consider every activity to be a learning opportunity – sorting shapes and sizes introduces early mathematics, enjoying rhymes, singing and music encourages language development and painting, mark making and messy play stimulate creativity.

3 Years - 5 Years Butterfly Room

The pre-school room is divided into well-defined “learning areas”, each equipped with resources that focus on a particular area of learning. These include emergent writing, mathematics, reading, information technology, role play, construction and many other activities.

Pre-school development for 3 to 5 year olds

Improving social development, communication and interaction skills are a priority for our pre-school children and we regularly ensure the children engage in organised activities that are specifically designed to encourage:

Independence
Confidence
Physical skills both gross & fine
Communication and teamwork
Imaginative and creative play
Talking and negotiation
Knowledge of their own abilities
Children to manage their own risk
Knowledge and appreciation of nature

In order to keep a record of your child’s time and progress at nursery we use a system called ‘Tapestry’.

Tapestry is an online learning journal. Using hand held tablets and devices we are able to instantly record and report on your child’s special moments and achievements and link them into your child’s personal profile.

You will be able to view the observations as a learning journey, flipping through the pages in time order, or filtering in flexible ways to access your favourite records. You can bookmark your favourite parts for quick access. Every time we make an entry into your child’s learning journal you will receive an email enabling you to access it immediately from your computer or phone.
